ABOUT MAURI MENDES

Mauri traveled from Brazil to The Netherlands at the age of 21, in search of adventures. Now happily married and with two beautiful children, he considers the adventure very successful! He has been lucky to enjoy three art academies: The Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam (BA – Audiovisual Design), the Amsterdam School of Arts (BA – teaching qualification), and the Cambridge School of Arts (MA – Children’s Books Illustration). His work has been exposed in several art galleries in Amsterdam . His short film was shown internationally in several film festivals.

Besides his professional art practice, he has worked as a multimedia designer, animator, and art teacher. With his audiovisual work, he has won the Zeeburg Amsterdam Art Prize and has been awarded the prestigious Prins Bernhard Cultuur Fonds Prize.

He has two children’s books published in China by Yeehoo Press, titled "Dave and Earl Go For a Walk" and "Margareth and Igor."

In 2022, he graduated from the Cambridge School of Arts with a specialization in Children’s Books Illustration.
