ABOUT EVA ELAND

Eva Eland is a Dutch author and illustrator living in Amsterdam with her partner and their two children. She holds an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art, and also studied art and audiovisual design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the School of Visual Arts in New York.

She’s best known for her picture book When Sadness Comes to Call, which has been translated into many languages and received several awards.

Eva works mainly with Risography, combining hand-drawn imagery with a limited, vibrant colour palette in both her books and prints. She loves books, generating ideas (even if most never get made or finished), observing people, and finding little stories everywhere.
